About me

           My name is Alyssa Solazzo, I am a Visual Arts Education major at Manhattanville College. I am approaching the end of my college career and one of my final accomplishment is my senior project. These are some reasons why I love art. 

 

            Through art I am able to express my feelings and ideas which gives me an outlet to convey my creativity. Painting relieves my stress and I am able to express my emotions and passion through my art. I have been fascinated by art and drawing since I was young. I would draw things of nature such as animals and trees for fun. Till this day my main subject matter is landscapes and animals because I think nature is beautiful and brings joy to peoples lives. My Senior Project collection is based off of surrealism and nature. I wanted my artwork to feel dreamy and captivating. When I create art I try to make the values and vibrant colors flow as one throughout an object. I want the flow and movement to be cohesive and appear natural. When I finish a work of art I feel a sense of accomplishment and confidence. I try to push and challenge myself so that I can reach my full potential. Art inspires me to try harder and do the best that I can. Although I mainly paint, I have challenged myself to try other mediums such as mixed media and sculpture. To me art is not about being perfect, it is about making mistakes and learning from them. Art adds excitement and creativity to my life. Art is a part of what makes me who I am.
